2010

We are proud to be celebrating our 200th year in business in 2010 - an impressive milestone for the firm, which was founded in Liverpool in 1810 by Edward Morrall.

We plan to celebrate our bicentenary with a series of special events and a major charity drive over the next two years.

Throughout our 200 years, Hill Dickinson and its ancestral firms have played a role in many high profile cases, most notably acting on behalf of the owners of RMS Lusitania, RMS Titanic and Cammell Laird. We have also acted in the Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral litigation and were involved in the famous William Herbert Wallace murder investigation. The firm made history by recruiting one of the first women in Britain to qualify as a solicitor. View our key milestones here and read more about our journey from 1810 by clicking here.

“As we embark upon the celebrations of our 200th year at Hill Dickinson, we are very proud of our development into a highly successful, contemporary firm, which is built upon the strength of our historical roots and our client partnerships,” says Tony Wilson, Hill Dickinson senior partner. “Clients are our heritage and they are essential to our future. We now look forward to the next chapter of our development and to contributing to the future prosperity of our clients, our people, our communities and the cities in which we operate.”

As part of our planned community activity, we will be working with the Community Foundation Network to raise vital funds for a number of charities throughout the UK. We are aiming to raise £200,000 in total over the next two years for projects in specific community groups, including sport, education, young carers and music. We will also be hosting a series of events throughout 2010, including celebrations with clients at the Manchester Art Gallery and Chester Cathedral. Towards the end of the year, we will be hosting a reception for clients in the impressive atrium of our Liverpool office, followed by a specially commissioned concert at the Liverpool Philharmonic featuring music of 1810, 1910 and 2010.

Thanks to our clients and our people, Hill Dickinson looks set to continue to thrive for many years to come. Peter Jackson, managing partner, sums up: “The foundations laid by a wide range of talented people over the last 200 years have left a lasting legacy which will be the platform for our continued development in to the future.”
