Gardiner - Trainee to Partner
Partner, clinical negligence
Having joined Hill Dickinson as a trainee solicitor in 1997 and since progressed to become a partner, I have experienced the training provided by the firm at all different fee earning levels.
Hill Dickinson offers both skills-based training and focussed legal training relating to the particular field in which fee earners work. The training that I have received has therefore not only increased my knowledge in my own specialism (clinical negligence), but also assisted my general development as a solicitor in areas such as client development, appraising and managing a team.
Training is given by both internal and external trainers. As the training representative for the health practice group, for example, I regularly invite barristers to speak about the legal aspects of clinical negligence, and doctors to provide background on medical matters and the broader issues affecting the NHS i.e. our clients. We hold a training session on at least a monthly basis, in addition to the practice group’s annual training day, which is also an opportunity for the entire practice group to get together and socialise afterwards.
