Training is essential to give businesses a competitive edge and protect them against the risks of adverse costs and claims. Hill Dickinson recognises the importance of training and the value that it can add to a client’s business.
As well as keeping clients informed of the law, the employment law training we deliver equips staff with the skills to identify legal issues promptly and the practical skills to address them appropriately.

How Hill Dickinson can help
We can design and produce bespoke in-house employment law courses tailored to clients’ specific requirements and internal employment rules, HR, policies and procedures.
In addition to our bespoke employment law training sessions, we run regular breakfast briefings, seminars and workshops covering a wide variety of topical HR issues. We also run specific training days and surgeries for our NHS clients.
Common employment law training topics include:
- The recruitment process – covering equal opportunities and data protection
- Managing and investigating discipline and grievance issues
- Managing sickness, absenteeism and poor performance
- Bullying and harassment
- Preventing stress claims
- TUPE
- Disabled employees and reasonable adjustments
- Redundancy and organisational change
- Diversity and equality
- NHS training days and surgeries

In addition to a raft of internal promotions, Hill
Dickinson LLP’s Liverpool office also acquired a team of four from
Halliwells led by Kerstie Skeaping, adding significant experience
in tribunal hearings, and in trade union matters and industrial
relations. Jeff Middleton now leads the team.
This
team has a strong reputation for advising NHS clients, and it
continues to grow on the corporate side, too. Recent highlights
include representing the Law Society in High Court proceedings
relating to TUPE. Other notable clients include Leeds Teaching
Hospitals NHS Trust, Iceland Foods and the North West Development
Agency.
