Consent to Treatment
The health team has extensive experience of advising clients on all issues of consent to treatment, including the treatment of minors and those detained under the Mental Health Act 1983, assessing capacity, determining best interests, advance decisions and obtaining high court declarations, where a conflict occurs regarding a patient’s ‘best interests’.
Areas of expertise include:
- Providing advice in respect of providing treatment to adults, minors and those detained under the Mental Health Act 1983
- Advising on the validity and scope of advance decisions
- Withholding and withdrawing life-prolonging treatment
- Obtaining high court declarations
- Drafting policies, patient leaflets and other similar documents
- Providing lectures and training to clients
