A new deterrent in insurance fraud

Event date : 3 September 2009

Event time : 10:30 - 15:30

Location : Liverpool

The Association of British Insurers (ABI) reports an increase in the number of fraudulent insurance claims over the past year and attributes them to the recession. In the current climate, it is anticipated that fraudulent claims will continue to rise, particularly in the area of motor claims. Taking a hard stance now could lead to a reduction in claims and result in future savings as private prosecutions can act as a real deterrent to fraudulent claimants.

This complimentary seminar explores the options available in relation to private prosecutions. We will also provide a general overview of recent key developments in the field motor insurance fraud.

The seminar will consider the types of claim suitable for prosecution and the fundamental steps that should be taken in persuading the police to take on the case or of launching a private prosecution yourself. The important issue of legal and investigations costs will also be considered.

This event is open exclusively to Hill Dickinson clients engaged in the investigation and handling of fraudulent insurance claims.
