The legal risks associated with the provision of offender healthcare

Event date : 1 October 2009

Event time : 13:00 - 17:00

Location : Manchester

Informal presentations will be provided on a variety of topics highlighting the legal risks associated with the provision of healthcare to offenders, followed by one-to-one confidential legal surgeries where you can talk to a lawyer, specialising in offender health, about any particular issues upon which you may require legal advice.

We are pleased to announce that Mr Meadows, HM Coroner for the City of Manchester, will be in attendance to talk about inquests, deaths in custody, and the key issues healthcare providers should consider. Mr Goldstein (barrister) will then be discussing how to give evidence when called to court and tips on how to handle questions posed by nasty lawyers!

This is a free and informal seminar designed to promote greater discussion in relation to the wide ranging legal issues that affect those providing healthcare to offenders, including those employed by PCTs, acute trusts, mental health trusts and private providers. The seminar will also be an opportunity for you to share information with your colleagues and discuss some of the burning legal issues affecting your organisation.

Afternoon tea will be provided free of charge, including tea, coffee, soft drinks and scones.
