Law firm Hill Dickinson, has assisted King David Schools in Crumpsall on their £20 million redevelopment. Work begins this week at the Eaton Road site, which is currently home to the 800-place high school and sixth form, as well as a junior and infant school and nursery.
Manchester City Council Leader, Sir Richard Leese, joined the King David Schools Chair of Trustees, Joshua Rowe, and the Chair of Governors of the constituent Schools, to sign the development agreement, giving the green light for work to commence. The Chief Rabbi, Sir Jonathan Sacks, who was paying a pastoral visit to the school also joined the signing ceremony. Pupils will relocate to the new school during the winter of 2010, with the overall scheme completing in July 2011.
Jonathan Dover, partner at Hill Dickinson says: "This deal is highly significant for the Schools and for Crumpsall as a whole. The plans are nothing short of visionary, and will see the Schools transform into a 21st Century building to house its pupils."
The new 8,465 sq m building, will house a 420-place primary school, a 60-place nursery and the majority of the high school. The remainder of the high school accommodation will be provided in the existing sixth form, administration and music blocks.
The project will create and promote local job and training opportunities at all levels with the City Council assisting main contractor Laing O Rourke to recruit and train apprentices and work in partnership with the Manchester Internships scheme for young people, as part of the Council’s Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme and Primary Capital Programme (PCP).
Jonathan Dover and Howard Cornes assisted the school on behalf
of Hill Dickinson.
