Hill Dickinson team rises to fundraising challenge

Four intrepid teams from law firm Hill Dickinson’s North West offices are challenging themselves to the limit this year, by taking part in the gruelling 6 Peaks Challenge (3rd to 6th July), in aid of WaterAid, Hill Dickinson’s chosen charity of the year.

The plan is to visit the summits of the highest peaks in the British Isles and Republic of Ireland (England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland and Isle of Man), all within 72 hours!

The challenge has raised more than £750,000 for WaterAid over the years. Each team member pays an entry fee to cover essential costs and WaterAid asks that they each raise a minimum of £500 in sponsorship. Last year, Hill Dickinson raised more than £13,000 through the challenge, with two teams from the firm participating. This year, four Hill Dickinson teams are taking part and the firm hopes to improve upon last year’s fundraising figure.  Hill Dickinson is the only North West headquartered law firm to be taking part and, across all four teams, is volunteering an impressive 28 Six Peak challengers - the highest turn out for any one participating organisation.

This year the teams taking part in the Six Peak Challenge will be accompanied by legendary mountaineer Doug Scott. Doug was the first Briton to summit the southwest face of Mount Everest in 1975 and is joining the walkers for the final ascent.

Alex Bramwell, paralegal from Hill Dickinson and Six Peaks participant says, “Last year's event was fantastic, and the benefits to WaterAid so great that I could not resist taking part again this year. We have been preparing for months for this challenge and are really looking forward to working together as a team to reach all six peaks in four days.”

Through fundraising events and challenges, Hill Dickinson has pledged that it will raise £50,000 for WaterAid by the end of 2009. The money raised will go towards helping to provide the people of Nepal with access to clean drinking water.
