Two representatives from Liverpool head-quartered law firm, Hill Dickinson have been elected to the Merseyside Junior Lawyers Division Committee (MJLD).
In a hotly contested election, trainee solicitors, Kate McDonald and Sian Stringer secured the Social Representative and Publicity Representative positions, respectively. MJLD members voted for the Committee via e-mail.
Kate, a trainee with Hill Dickinson’s property & construction practice group, says of her newly elected role, “The current economic climate means that times are challenging for junior lawyers. It is more important than ever to ensure a strong support network for professionals who are in the early stages of their career. I’ll be working, as part of the MJLD to organise a series of fun, informal events that will help junior lawyers to bond and enjoy themselves.”
Sian, an insurance practice group trainee, adds, “We are very pleased to have secured the Committee places against such fierce competition from other local firms. Kate and I are now determined to spread the word about the MJLD and to further boost engagement with students, trainees, paralegals and junior lawyers across the region.”
The MJLD formed as a local group to look after interests of members of the junior lawyers division in the region. Membership of the MJLD covers a wide spectrum, from LPC students, trainees and paralegals to solicitors up to 5 years qualified. The Committee meets once a month and arranges social, education and sporting events.
