International law firm Hill Dickinson has won the National Law
Firm of the Year Award at the 2010 Legal Business Awards. The firm
scooped the national publication’s accolade for the second time at
a ceremony in London on Thursday night (11 February 2010).
This particular award recognises the national firm, headquartered
outside of London, which has made the greatest progress over the
past year for advancing its corporate strategy.
Key factors taken into account were the firm’s
merger with Middleton Potts, sustained growth, improved financial
performance and increased market share across its key practice
areas. For this category, particular credence was also given to
client feedback in support of the original submission.
On winning the award, Peter Jackson, managing partner at Hill
Dickinson, said: “It is a fantastic achievement for Hill Dickinson
to win this award again. This year we are celebrating our
200th anniversary, so this is a superb way to start our
celebrations. We are confident of Hill Dickinson’s future and will
strive to continue to develop and build our business for the
overall benefit of our clients, our people and the communities we
operate in.” He went onto say: “This accolade reflects the hard
work and talent of our team in partnership with our client base,
who tell us they value our service led approach.”
Hill Dickinson recently reported a 12% turnover growth in the year
to 30 April 2009, to £82.4 million. This is a massive 179% increase
on the £29.4 million recorded in 1997 and a figure that sees the
firm remain the steadfast leader in the North peer group of the
Legal Business 100. The firm has offices in Liverpool, Manchester,
Chester, London and Piraeus, as well as an office in Singapore,
which opened in May 2009.
Tony Wilson, senior partner at Hill Dickinson,
said: “2009 was an excellent year for the firm, so we are thrilled
that this has been recognised by the Legal Business Awards. The
firm merged with long-established, London-based law firm, Middleton
Potts, in a move that has significantly boosted Hill Dickinson’s
presence in the commodities sector and added further weight to its
global reputation for shipping and transport work. Also in 2009,
managing partner, Peter Jackson, was recognised in the Lawyer Top
100 within the management category and was the only north
west-based managing partner named.”
Hill Dickinson previously won the National Law Firm of the Year
award at the Legal Business Awards in 2005.
