Paul qualified in 1990 and has specialised in corporate finance since.

He began his career in London with Clifford Chance and then Bristows. His experience in London included Ford's takeover of Jaguar Plc, the management buy-outs of Del Monte and Coalite and advising Panasonic on its joint venture with BSkyB, BT Plc and HSBC which gave rise to Sky Digital Interactive Television.

Paul relocated to Manchester in 1998 to join Garretts where his experience included Latium Group's acquisition of the Everest double-glazing businesses from Caradon Plc, the management buy-in of Pennine Computer Systems Ltd, the take private of fully listed Crown Leisure Plc, the flotation of Soundalert plc and the effective take private of fully listed Lionheart Plc.

Paul joined Hammonds as a partner in 2000 moving to Hill Dickinson as a partner in 2003. His work at both firms has included the take privates of Queensborough Holdings Plc and Fraser Williams Logistics Plc, the AIM floats of Empire Interactive Plc and Driver Group Plc, acting for McCambridge Group Plc on various disposals and the management buy-out, secondary buy-out and ultimate sale of Delta Fluid Products Limited.
