Cookies set via YouTube

We use YouTube to embed videos into our website for you to view without having to leave the website. Where possible, we use YouTube’s ‘privacy-enhanced mode’ to embed YouTube videos without using cookies that track viewing behaviour. However, YouTube will still set some cookies.

The list of cookies below includes some that will not be set by privacy-enhanced mode videos but may have been set on your computer from previous visits to our website, or if you view a page where we were not able to use a privacy-enhanced mode video.

Cookies set via Google Analytics

Cookies set via Hotjar

We use a service called Hotjar in order to better understand our users’ needs and to optimize our website. Hotjar helps us better understand our users’ experience (eg how much time they spend on which pages, which links they choose to click, what users do and don’t like, etc.) and this enables us to build and maintain our service with user feedback. Hotjar uses cookies and other technologies to collect data on our users’ behaviour and their devices. This includes a device’s IP address (processed during your session and stored in a de-identified form), device screen size, device type (unique device identifiers), browser information, geographic location (country only), and the preferred language used to display our website. Hotjar stores this information on our behalf in a pseudonymized user profile. Hotjar is contractually forbidden to sell any of the data collected on our behalf.

Cookies set by other Google services

As well as Google Analytics and YouTube we use other Google services that share a set of cookies. reCAPTCHA is a service provided by Google to limit spam submissions to websites. reCAPCTHA sets a number of tracking cookies to identify genuine rather than fraudulent users. We use reCAPTCHA to block spam submissions to our newsletter signup form.

Google appears to set more cookies for users who have previously logged into a Google account on their computer, so not all of the below cookies may be set on your computer depending on if you are logged into a Google account on your computer or not. As Google is a third-party different cookies could be set at any time, so the list below may not be comprehensive. As different cookies are set depending on different factors it is possible that the automated scan and manual checks, we have used to compile this list may have missed some cookies or reported more cookies than will apply to you personally.
