We are pleased to invite you to our forthcoming webinar on Wednesday 9 September 2026, between 09:30 and 11:30, focusing on the management of risk, process and fallout when investigating health and social care professionals. This session is aimed at those in senior roles at organisations delivering health and social care services.

This interactive webinar will provide clear, practical guidance and insight into the wide-ranging legal issues that can arise during investigations, along with strategies to help you and your organisation mitigate associated risks.

Hosted by Joanna Trewin, Partner in our Healthcare and Public law team, and featuring presentations from our specialists, the session will cover:

  • Employment and internal investigations: James Upton, Partner – Health Employment

Including analysis of common pitfalls when implementing an MHPS investigation, managing parallel processes (such as Employment Tribunal proceedings, grievances, and regulatory investigations), and practical tactical guidance.

  • Data and records risks: Richard Parker, Partner – Health Commercial

Covering DSARs as a litigation tool, minimising ICO exposure, managing risks relating to WhatsApp, email and informal communications, and guidance on “what not to write” in investigation records.

  • The interface with criminal law and safeguarding: Louise Wilson, Legal Director – Healthcare and Public Law

Exploring when employment issues cross into criminal matters, including sexual misconduct, drug misuse, and gross negligence manslaughter, as well as responding to safeguarding concerns externally.

  • Managing external scrutiny and public law processes: Rebecca Sharrock, Partner – Healthcare and Public Law

Addressing preparation for inquests, inquiries and other external reviews (e.g. Safeguarding Adult Reviews and Domestic Homicide Reviews), and supporting senior leaders in giving evidence.

  • Managing reputation and media: Simon Davidtz, Lawyer – Healthcare and Public Law

Practical advice on handling press interest following serious incidents, social media challenges, and ensuring communications align with legal strategy, including implications of the Public Office Accountability Bill.
