Queen’s Speech: 21 June 2017

Details

Of note from the Queen’s Speech, aside from the General Data Protection Regulation, are the following proposals for Parliament over the next two years:

  • The national living wage will rise to 60% of median earnings by 2020
  • The Immigration Bill will be introduced which will cover the UK and establish new national immigration policy.  Key detail will include the immigration status of European Economic Area citizens and migration of EU nationals following Brexit
  •  The gender pay gap will be further addressed by the Government following the introduction of gender pay gap reporting on 6 April 2017. It remains to be seen what the specific focus of this will be
