James Lonsdale

James is a commercial lawyer, specialising in commercial agreements, IT and outsourcing arrangements and IP acquisition and licensing. He heads the Commercial, TMT and IP team.

Details

James joined the firm as partner in the Commercial, TMT and IP team in Manchester in August 2022. Before this he was a partner for 14 years in the Commercial IP & IT team at DWF LLP and before that spent 14 years working in the IP and IT team at Addleshaw Goddard in Manchester.

James has over 25 years of experience of advising on a range of different commercial arrangements including supply, distribution, agency agreements, IP acquisition and licensing and IT and outsourcing arrangements. James advises across a broad range of sectors including IT, Telecoms, Retail and Manufacturing and has acted for a wide variety of clients from small start ups to large listed companies. He is ranked as a leading individual in the Legal 500 for IT and Telecoms, Intellectual Property and Commercial work and as a Band 1 Lawyer within the North West for Information Technology in Chambers & Partners 2021.

James studied at St Peter’s College Oxford where he was an organ scholar and graduated with a 2:1. in music. Following this he completed his CPE and LPC (Distinction) at the College of Law in Chester.
