Hill Dickinson scoops double award at MMIAs

Details

Hill Dickinson was celebrating at the Mersey Maritime Industry Awards 2019 (MMIAs) last Friday evening, 14 March, as the Liverpool based law firm scooped not one but two key industry awards.

Representatives from the firm who attended the prestigious black tie gala dinner picked up the  awards for Global Reach and Employer of the Year, presented by BBC Breakfast presenter Louise Minchin.

The MMIAs, held at the city’s Titanic Hotel, celebrate companies, individuals and projects that are ‘transforming, growing and creating positive impact’ within the region’s maritime sector. Now in their fifth year, winners were decided by an expert judging panel combined with a public voting platform which saw more than 1000 votes cast.

Julian Clark, global head of shipping at Hill Dickinson, said: ‘We are delighted that Hill Dickinson’s reputation as a growing international law firm has been recognised with the Global Reach award. We are known throughout the world as a provider of legal services to the maritime sector and while much of our work is handled from the UK, our offices in Greece, Hong Kong, Monaco and Singapore give us local knowledge and a local presence in the key maritime centres,  which is vital to our continued success.

Commenting on the firm’s Employer of the Year award, Sarah Pickerill, HR & development director, said: ‘As a large employer with national and international offices, we are fully committed to ensuring Hill Dickinson is a great place to work. We invest heavily in attracting the brightest and best qualified minds across all our legal services, so it makes sense that we create a work environment that recognises and rewards that. We are hugely proud to be the winner of this award.’

Hill Dickinson was a founding member, and has been a consistent supporter of, Mersey Maritime since the  private sector-led organisation was set up in 2003 to provide a voice for the maritime industry on Merseyside. Liverpool based legal director Colin Lavelle, of Hill Dickinson’s marine team, said: ‘Mersey Maritime does a great job in highlighting issues and effecting change within the industry here in the North West. As a firm with significant maritime credentials, it is important that we are involved in, and supportive of, that work, so that we can better support our marine industry clients.’
