Harris is a senior associate based in the Piraeus office. He specialises in dry and wet shipping, international trade, as well as marine and non-marine insurance disputes.

Details

Harris deals with all aspects of shipping law including disputes arising from charterparties, carriage of goods by sea, cargo claims, MOAs, marine insurance, collisions, salvage and general average. 

He is regularly involved in English High Court proceedings, London maritime arbitration, cross border litigation, mediation and is also often involved in Lloyd’s salvage arbitration.

Harris obtained an LLB from the University of Kent and an LLM in Maritime Law from University College London.

    • Acting for shipowners and their P&I Club in a very high value marine insurance claim before the English High Court for the constructive total loss of a vessel.
    • Acted for salvors in a high value Lloyd’s salvage arbitration involving LOF services to a vessel laden with a full cargo of volatile explosives.
    • Acted for shipowners and their P&I Club in a high value LMAA arbitration involving a claim for damage to bulk cargo.
    • Acted for disponent owners and their P&I Club in a complex dispute under a chain of charterparties involving claims for late redelivery of a vessel under a time charter and damages in addition to demurrage under a voyage charter.
    • Involved in a high value marine insurance claim heard up to the UK Supreme Court: The Renos [2019] UKSC 29.
