About me

I am head of our Singapore office, and I specialise in marine, trade offshore and energy disputes, working with clients across Asia and beyond.

My practice spans wet and dry shipping, offshore contracts, marine insurance and commodity trading, from complex collisions and groundings to contract wordings and arbitration.

I’ve been with Hill Dickinson since 2001, having worked in London and the UAE before co-founding our Singapore office in 2009. That breadth of experience has helped shape my approach: commercially focused, calm under pressure, and always collaborative.

Clients know me for my tenacity and judgment, particularly when it comes to understanding the merits of a case and shaping the right strategy. I work closely with owners, charterers, P&I Clubs, insurers and trading houses.

When I’m not working, I like to keep myself busy spending time with my three children, playing polo and sailing.

My experience

  • Advised ship owners in prosecuting an unsafe port claim at arbitration, following a major grounding incident, resulting in a successful settlement.
  • Successfully defended offshore support vessel owners in respect of a US$140 million claim arising from a gas pipeline rupture in South East Asia.
  • Assisted ship managers in defending claims in the US arising from a collision with a rig and obtaining an indemnity from insurers in Europe that had previously denied cover.
  • Pursued and defended numerous claims relating to off-spec bunkers.
  • Advised and assisted clients in respect of proceedings that reached the Supreme Court in Norway in respect of a direct action against insurers following a collision and an attempt by the opponents to rely on Dutch limitation of liability.
