About me
I’m a partner in our Health Litigation team and specialise in defending clinical negligence claims for NHS trusts and other healthcare organisations.
As a highly experienced practitioner, with a particular interest in adult and child brain injury claims, I’ve focused for many years on maternity claims and safety, primarily catastrophic brain and other birth injuries. It’s an area I regularly advise clients on and about which I’m often invited to speak. I also manage high value claims and have a supervisory role for the firm’s Costs team.
It's important to me to know what matters to the client, what they want to achieve from the process and the outcome. As individuals, we all respond differently to situations, so I adapt my approach accordingly. So, for me, it’s about finding better ways to work, whether by incremental improvement or by pulling the pieces apart and reassembling them differently. My clients know I’ll fight their corner and reaching successful outcomes is always satisfying.
Away from work, I’m a leader in a local church, which gives me an opportunity to serve in my local community, and support a lower league football club, which keeps me grounded in life!
My experience
- I proposed and piloted the first EN Summit for NHS Resolution, subsequently developing this innovative approach which was then adopted and rolled out across their legal panel.
- I sit on Cheshire and Merseyside Maternity and Neonatal Safety Group alongside NHS trusts providing maternity services, which aims to deliver service and safety improvements. It also keeps me closely connected in my specialist field.
- I manage a large cohort of claims arising out a high profile review into an NHS trust under an innovative agreement, designed with efficiency of process and sensitivity to the injuries suffered at the forefront of the arrangements.
- Tracy Davies -v-University Hospital of North Staffordshire NHS Trust & another (2014) EWHC 4004 - successful defence of a complex blindness and brain injury claim.
