About me

As a shipping partner in our Marine team, I advise clients on a wide variety of matters concerning dry shipping, contentious and non-contentious shipbuilding, maritime decarbonisation and marine insurance.

Much of my work is focused on dispute resolution and arbitration, and I like to work closely and collaboratively with my clients to ensure we are constantly moving towards the agreed outcome and to achieve the best result.

There’s a lot of problem-solving involved and my role is to find solutions and provide my clients with timely, strategic and commercial advice. In matters that are often fast-moving and subject to change, my clients appreciate my responsiveness and practical approach.

Although I use my legal knowledge and expertise to work on matters across the global shipping market, I’m also known for my particular experience in the South Korean shipping market.

My experience

  • DS-Rendite Fonds Nr 106 VLCC Titan Glory GmbH & Co Tankschiff KG & 7 Ors -v- Titan Maritime SA Panama & 8 Ors (2015) and (2013) – this resulted in one of the largest financial orders at summary judgment given by the Commercial Court at the time (in excess of USD 300 million). I represented the successful claimant.
  • AET Inc Ltd -v- Arcadia Petroleum Ltd (the ‘Eagle Valencia’) (2010) – this is still one of the leading cases for dry shipping demurrage claims and time bar arguments; I represented the successful party (Arcadia).
  • Glencore Energy UK Ltd -v- Transworld Oil Ltd (the ‘Narmada Spirit’) (2010) – successfully represented Glencore.
  • Datec Electronics Holdings Ltd & anor -v- United Parcels Service Ltd (2007) – successfully represented Datec from the beginning to the House of Lords in respect of breaking limits against UPS for theft of electronic equipment and recovering in full.
