About me

I specialise in healthcare law, focusing particularly on inquests and Court of Protection matters. I work for physical and mental health trusts as well as ICBs.

My role is to support clients through the coronial process, advocate for them in court and advise them throughout the process, from reviewing statements to attending court.

I advise on matters relating to the Mental Capacity Act and the Mental Health Act, while also assisting on Court of Protection matters, from s.21a applications to serious medical treatment cases.

My aim is to make my clients lives easier, ensuring they feel supported every step of the way. I’ve worked in various areas of healthcare law and spent a few years of secondment, giving me insight into how the NHS works and the pressure clients face. This allows me to offer well informed, pragmatic guidance that truly meets the client’s needs.

The most rewarding thing about my job is that I get to make a positive impact. Seeing key learnings from inquests become tangible improvements that enhance patient safety makes it all worthwhile.

My experience

  • Represents NHS Trusts at a variety of inquests, including complex mental health inquests where Article 2 is engaged and with a jury.
  • Undertakes Court of Protection work and specialises in mental capacity law, including s.21a applications, welfare applications and serious medical treatment cases.
  • Has been involved in advising on serious incident investigations and patient safety reviews.
  • Has undertaken secondments at NHS Trusts, both in an acute and mental health settings.
