About me
I’m a real estate lawyer specialising in investment and portfolio management work. As Head of our Manchester Real Estate team, I’m fortunate to work on some of largest and most exciting property transactions in the North West while also supporting colleagues on property aspects of key corporate transactions.
My clients, in the main, are property companies that are owner-managed businesses. They’re generally also family-owned so it’s fundamentally important to me that I fully understand my clients’ business and can help them achieve the best outcome at every stage. It’s also professionally and personally satisfying to know that every meticulously planned step on a project has come to fruition and I’ve helped my clients achieve their objectives.
I’ve been acting for some of my clients for approaching 25 years now, so I’d like to think I’m doing something right.
It’s probably no surprise that my recommended read is To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee. I’m pretty sure I’m not alone in having been inspired by the highly principled Atticus Finch to pursue a career in law!
My experience
- Acted on the sale of a portfolio of office buildings for a private investor for £17.5 million.
- Advised on the acquisition of a Manchester office building for £15 million.
- Acted on the acquisition of an industrial property in Yorkshire including securing funding in under three days for £3 million.
- Acted on the acquisition of a Manchester Office building for £6.1 million which included a back-to-back transfer and a surrender of a lease of whole.
- Acted on the sale of an industrial building for £11.75 million.
- Acted for a local authority in respect of an income-strip lease and approving a series of leases agreed by the developer in respect of a scheme with an aggregate value of £84 million.
