About me
As a Solicitor, I advise on both ‘wet’ and ‘dry’ shipping matters, as well as sanctions. I work with a range of clients across the sector, including shipowners, charterers, managers, P&I clubs, traders and insurers.
I’m practical, efficient and commercially minded. I always make sure the guidance I offer is clear, realistic and aligned with each client’s priorities, especially when the timing is critical.
I assist with disputes arising out of casualties and various shipping contracts such as, charterparties, bills of lading and sale and purchase agreements. I have experience handling proceedings before the English courts and in LMAA arbitrations. I take a practical approach to litigation, working with colleagues to help clients navigate disputes in a way that supports their wider commercial aims.
My sanctions work includes screening vessels, trades and counterparties, as well as handling delisting applications in the UK and EU. I help clients stay compliant in a fast-moving regulatory landscape, offering clear and commercially focused advice.
My experience
- Acting for claimants in High Court proceedings arising out of an allision involving a convoy of vessels at the Suez Canal.
- Representing shipowners, traders and individuals seeking the revocation of sanctions imposed by the UK and EU.
- Advising shipowners, charterers, managers and insurers on calls to sanctioned jurisdictions including Russia/Ukraine, Syria, Venezuela, Iran, Myanmar, Lebanon and Libya.
- Acting for owners in a dispute arising from a collision between two vessels, resulting in the release of butane gas and damage to the engine of a tug that was in close proximity.
- Advising charterers on a dispute concerning the origin of oil loaded in Iraq.
