About me

I’m a partner advising on all aspects of healthcare law, with particular expertise in corporate governance, public law and judicial review, public inquiries and investigations, health sector commissioning and regulation and information governance.

My clients are mainly public and private sector healthcare organisations, but the vast majority of clients I work with are NHS bodies. I also advise national regulators such as NHS England and the Care Quality Commission.

Most of my clients have patient care at the heart of what they do, and it’s important that I help them find solutions to their challenges not just from a legal perspective but from a human perspective too. My approach is personable and pragmatic, and I’ll always take the time to explain things in a way that’s relatable and my clients can easily understand. Acting as an extension of the client’s team, I help them understand relevant issues and progress towards the most appropriate solution.

For me, the client relationship doesn’t end there – I often offer free advice and catch-ups on matters they just need a second opinion on. Trust and communication are, after all, a vital element of our close working relationship.

My experience

  • Represented the Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in the Thirlwall Inquiry and other NHS bodies in the Infected Blood Inquiry and Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust public inquiry.
  • Advised on the governance structures for the establishment of the Northern Care Alliance, one of the first NHS group structures in the country.
  • Advised on joint working arrangements and governance structures as part of place-based partnerships and provider collaborations following the government white papers on health and social care integration in 2020/2021.
  • Advised a private sector healthcare provider on a significant patient recall exercise.
  • Advised NHS clients on various service reconfigurations and represented clients in judicial reviews arising from commissioning and service delivery decisions.
