About me
I’m a Partner in our Employment Law team, acting primarily for clients in the health and social care sector, including regulators such as the Care Quality Commission.
I advise on all aspects of employment law, namely contentious matters, advisory work and supporting with the employment law aspects of commercial transactions.
My approach to client matters is to provide focused advice in straightforward terms. Rather than sitting on the fence or simply setting out a number of possible options, I advise with a concise and clear rationale on the best option in the particular circumstances. Clients appreciate that I’m straight-talking, responsive and like to get straight to the heart of the problem, especially in employment law disputes, which are often sensitive and emotionally draining processes for those involved.
Much of the work I handle is for public sector clients such as NHS and foundation trusts, and related public bodies and regulators. In independent health, I represent health-care providers, GP and dental practices, health charities, social-care providers and senior health practitioners.
Outside of work, I’m also proud to use my knowledge and experience to undertake pro bono professional reviews of work and cancer support publications for MacMillan Cancer.
My experience
- Member of the Employment Lawyers Association.
- Clients I have worked with recently include: NHS England; Dudley Group NHS FT; Royal Marsden NHS FT; Bromley Healthcare CIC; East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust; North East London ICB; Care Quality Commission; Lancashire and South Cumbria ICB; and Manchester University Hospital NHS FT.
- Successfully represented NHSE in the defence of a complex claim brought by an employee who raised 33 separate allegations of sex/race/religious belief discrimination. The hearing of the claim took place over two weeks, involved a number of senior employees and the ET judgment made no findings or critical comments of the Respondent/its staff (Samina Ashraf -v- NHS England).
