About me
I’m a partner in our health litigation team, specialising in defendant clinical negligence for the NHS. My caseload typically involves highly complex, high-value claims and it’s my job to help clients investigate and resolve those clinical claims fairly and expeditiously.
My clients are predominantly NHS trusts, GPs and NHS Resolution.
As a healthcare lawyer, I’m passionate about the work I do and the need to look after my clients’ interests while also drawing out learning from claims to improve patient safety. The safety of patients is ultimately what we’re all working towards, and collaboration is key.
My clients value my ability to analyse and ‘cut through’ the issues quickly so we can agree the best path to resolution of claims. Having been with the firm since 2009 and leading a large team, I’ve successfully defended multiple cases to trial.
Resilience is essential when you’re a lawyer, and even more so when you’re a parent of young children. I’ve spoken on the subject on a number of occasions, particularly as my daughters serve as a constant reminder of the challenges of navigating parenthood while working in the law!
My experience
- I act for NHS Resolution and have Key Personnel Status.
- I am client relationship partner (or litigation lead) for several key NHS trusts, including NHS University Hospitals of Liverpool Group, Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust, East Cheshire NHS Trust, The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Shropshire Community Health NHS Trust.
- My most recent trial success was a clinical trial in 2024, where we secured a finding of fundamental dishonesty: BROWN v LIVERPOOL UNIVERSITY HOSPITALS NHS FOUNDATION TRUST AND ANOTHER [2024] Med LR Plus 29 Lorry driver in dishonest NHS compensation case - NHS Resolution.
