About me
I’m a Partner in our Hong Kong office, specialising in asset finance with a focus on ship and aviation finance. I advise PRC-based leasing companies, banks and international shipowners on high-value, cross-border transactions, particularly sale and leasebacks and structured finance. My clients value my ability to simplify complex legal issues and deliver commercially astute, pragmatic advice.
Dual-qualified in Hong Kong and England & Wales, I also serve as a Notary Public and a Council Member of the Hong Kong Society of Notaries. My recent work includes advising on a US$900 million fleet acquisition and leaseback involving 51 vessels and a major aviation financing and refinancing matter valued over US$200 million.
Clients describe me as responsive, trustworthy and strategic. Outside of work, I’m a committed triathlete and recently competed in the Ironman 70.3 World Championships in New Zealand. This also helps to shape my approach to focus, resilience and balance.
My experience
- Member of The Law Society of Hong Kong, member of the Triathlon Association of Hong Kong China and Council Member of the Hong Kong Society of Notaries.
- Acted as leading counsel for a major Chinese leasing company on the sale and leaseback of two 162,000m3 ice breaking LNG carriers with a Greek shipowner. The aggregate loan amount was around US$363,800,000. The vessels are each being employed for a high-profile LNG project.
- Acted as leading counsel for a major Chinese leasing company on the sale and leaseback of a fleet of 51 vessels with a French shipowner as well as the multi-tiered structured financing in relation to the acquisition. The total value of the vessels exceeds US$900 million.
- Acted for one of the largest tanker owners in Vietnam in respect of three separate sale and leaseback of a total of 10 tankers with three separate renowned Chinese leasing companies, including pre-delivery financing. The total value of all 10 vessels exceeds US$580million.
- Advised a major Chinese leasing company on the sale of certain ship-leasing portfolio to another major Chinese leasing company.
- Advised a major Chinese leasing company on the sale and leaseback of four Boeing 737-800 commercial aircraft with a major Chinese airline with an aggregate loan amount of approximately US$207 million and the subsequent refinancing of the aircraft.
- Advised a European private wealth bank on the financing and refinancing of various business jets owned by high-net-worth individuals.
