About me

I’m a Partner in our Real Estate Litigation team, advising clients on a wide range of property related matters, including general landlord and tenant disputes.

As a recognised expert in matters relating to rights of light, I’m regularly instructed on high value claims of this type in particular.

I’m also regarded as pre-eminent in mines and minerals, which is a relatively niche area of law and have a specialism in restrictive covenants. My client portfolio is quite varied, typically developers, insurance companies and investors in all of the above areas.

As a person and as a lawyer, I’m approachable and result-driven, so my clients know they can rely on me to be hands-on and committed to achieving the result we set together.

Helping clients to resolve issues successfully is what challenges and motivates me every day.  It’s the reason I trained as a lawyer and what makes me proud to work with such a great team.

My experience

  • Successfully acting for a developer in defending an application for an interim injunction in a rights of lights claim: Handston Investments v Abri Group [2024] EWHC 3523 (Ch).
  • Successfully pursuing a rights of light claim in the High Court in respect of an infringement to a valuable commercial asset in the City of London.
  • Successfully resisting various mines and minerals claims brought against developers by owners of subterranean mines and minerals.
  • Acting on a large-scale development defending a high value mines and minerals claim involving ownership of voids after mineral extraction.
  • Acting for the developer of the old Leicester City FC ground at Filbert Street on multiple claims for damages for rights to light infringement caused by £30m residential development.
  • Defending and settling various claims arising from rights of light, restrictive covenants, party wall, easements and trespass issues against a developer in relation to a London development.
  • Provide landlord and tenant property litigation advice to clients in various sectors in relation to their national property portfolios.
