About me
I’m a partner in our health litigation team and lead on clinical negligence and personal injury work, as well as being the lead in Manchester for our patient safety offering to clients.
My role is to advise NHS and private sector bodies on claims, with my main area of expertise being in defending clinical negligence claims for clients including NHS Resolution, NHS trusts and private healthcare providers.
The specific nature of my work is often challenging and sensitive, so I aim to make the process as pain-free as possible for clients, using my extensive experience to quickly assess risks and work with them to establish a preferred strategy. A friendly, collaborative approach and the ability to balance complex legal assessments with a practical understanding of what the client wants to achieve is key to securing the best outcome.
I’m proud to have come up ‘through the ranks’ at Hill Dickinson having joined as a trainee solicitor after university. As a measure of job satisfaction, the continuity and the relationships I’ve built with clients and colleagues along the way simply can’t be beaten!
My experience
- High profile Court of Appeal decision in Reaney -v- Mid Staffordshire & another (2015) and the notable quantum case of Riley -v- Salford Royal NHS FT (2022).
- Clinical negligence defendant lawyer with over 20 years’ experience.
- Also developed expertise in dealing with claims which have international elements.
- Focus on patient safety and learning from claims, including how data and technology can be used to achieve that.
