About me

I’m a clinical negligence claims specialist, with over 10 years’ experience.

My practice covers a broad range of high-value and sensitive claims including birth injuries, spinal injuries and amputation claims.

I work predominantly with hospital trusts and GPs, and their medical insurers, as well as private and independent healthcare providers. I’m especially experienced in handling claims involving multiple defendants.

I have a keen analytical mind and a talent for strategic advice, which I draw on to reach the best outcomes for my clients.

I provide a holistic approach, acting as a trusted advisor to both legal and clinical personnel throughout the lifespan of claims. Collaboration sits at the heart of everything I do, ensuring clients feel heard, involved and empowered throughout the process.

I’m passionate about defence work and derive great fulfilment in supporting medical professionals, so that they can focus on patients, while preserving public funds.

My experience

  • Worked in both Wales and England, for and with the NHS and have a deep understanding of the workings of hospital trusts and the legal teams within those.
  • Worked in private practice, both for and with GPs and private surgeons being sued as individuals. This included complex claims with multiple defendants and associated apportionment issues.
  • Successfully sought, and won, a preliminary issue trial in the reported case of Bot -v- Barnick & ors [2018] EWHC 3132 (QB) [2018] 11 WLUK 270, which has served to limit the scope of any secondary duty owed by a doctor to a family member of a patient.
