About me

I’m a consultant with over 30 years of in-depth experience in commercial, technology, media, intellectual property and regulatory law – often working for my clients as a trusted adviser and private practice in-house counsel.

I deal with a far greater range of issues than most lawyers and use that breadth and depth of knowledge to provide advice with a holistic, commercial strategic approach. I also advise on tactics to implement the strategy.

Accordingly, my client portfolio is extremely varied – I advise everyone and everything from individuals through to SMEs and huge multi-national organisations, and it’s the mix of industries, sectors and people that’s such a big part of what makes my job so interesting.

I write extensively and I’m the author of several leading textbooks, as well as regularly appearing as a legal expert on Sky, the BBC and LBC.

My clients appreciate that I’m extremely commercial, practical and often come up with out-of-the-box solutions they never imagined possible. The techniques I apply to managing my work are equally applicable to my life away from work, managing day-to-day life with my large family: it’s all for them, really.

My experience

  • I’m a member of the Society for Computers and Law.
  • I act for Elstree Film Studios.
  • I act for RTL Media – against Google!
  • I have acted for Gwyneth Paltrow and Goop.
  • I appear regularly on the BBC and Sky as an expert on various legal topics.
  • I have got various professionals ‘off’ regulatory and disciplinary charges in circumstances when they should never have been prosecuted in the first place. This ‘saved’ (and/or changed) their lives for the better in many instances.
