About me

As a specialist in clinical negligence claims, I offer my clients the tailored legal insight they need to reach the best outcome, no matter the challenge they face.

I primarily act for NHS Trusts, as instructed by NHS Resolution, but I also represent private insurers. I deal with a variety of clinical negligence claims, focusing particularly on high-value, maximum severity clinical negligence cases including brain injuries, spinal injuries and amputations.

Collaboration sits at the heart of what I do, and I work to build a true partnership with my clients, so that together, we can get to the right result, regardless how complex their circumstances.

I’m proud that in my role, I get to support healthcare professionals through challenging scrutiny, while helping patients receive appropriate compensation. Playing a part in helping clients navigate emotionally charged, technically complex matters to reach satisfying conclusions is something I find truly rewarding.

Patient safety is a passion of mine. I work closely with clients to help them learn from claims and identify practical ways to reduce future risk. As part of this, I often host training sessions for clients on key issues and regularly contribute to learning projects for clients in the North West.

My experience

  • Involved in the high-profile Court of Appeal decision in Reaney -v- Mid Staffordshire & another (2015) and the notable quantum case of Riley -v- Salford Royal NHS FT (2022).
  • Defending the most complex and high value clinical negligence claims for NHS Resolution, including obstetric claims.
  • Concluding numerous multi-million pound claims for defendant NHS bodies.
  • Alternative dispute resolution undertaken in the majority of high value cases which have settled, including resolution by way of mediation.

Awards and accolades

  • I have maintained my position as a Leading Associate in clinical negligence defence within the Northwest for the past four consecutive editions of the Legal 500 (2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024).
