About me
I’m a clinical negligence specialist who leads our Health Litigation team in London.
My practice focuses on defending NHS trusts in clinical negligence cases. I’m an expert in neurological birth injury claims and have a keen interest in patient safety initiatives in this area. I also advise on complex serious incident investigations involving third parties such as the police.
Having advised NHS organisations on issues relating to clinical risk and healthcare litigation for over 20 years, I’m experienced in the management of all types of clinical claims, supporting clients at every stage of the litigation process.
I’m analytical in my approach. I carefully consider the risk factors and evidence in every case and provide clients with realistic options for how best to resolve claims. I always speak in plain English, so clients can avoid any confusion and make decisions based on a solid grasp of the facts.
Throughout my career, I’ve worked closely with NHS Resolution and I have ‘key personnel’ status. I feel privileged that my role lets me help them shape policies and processes that truly improve how our healthcare system meets the needs of patients.
My experience
- Represented an NHS Trust in Bluck v Information Commissioner & Epsom & St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust. This case considered whether medical records of deceased patients were subject to a duty of confidence so as to be exempt from disclosure under the FOIA by virtue of section 41.
- Key advisor to NHS Resolution during the development of the Early Notification Scheme.
