About me
I have a dual role as partner and head of our Real Estate team in Leeds, specialising in retail, investment and development work.
My clients are typically development and investment companies, retailers and high-net-worth families. In each scenario, I go out of my way to get to know the client’s business so we can examine the options and agree on a collaborative approach based on trust and understanding.
Recent matters I’ve advised on include a large-scale complex assembly of prime retail and student accommodation sites in York and an out-of-town retail park development in Wakefield.
Seeing a development project or an acquisition come to fruition and knowing I had some involvement in making it happen is one of the most rewarding aspects of my work. That, along with the great client relationships I’ve built along the way.
Away from work, I’m a trustee of the Wentworth Woodhouse Preservation Trust, an ambitious regeneration project in South Yorkshire. It’s feels good to apply my real estate knowledge to a passion project too.
My experience
- Acting for a developer on all aspects of a large-scale, complex assembly of prime retail and student accommodation sites in the heart of York. The project involves the creation of 250,000 sq ft of mixed-use retail, leisure, commercial and residential space along with a riverside walkway and creation of new public spaces on a sustainable basis.
- Acting for a developer on the development of a retail and leisure park in Wakefield.
- Purchase of Armley Gyratory in Leeds and the adjoining training centre from National Grid plc. The site will be redeveloped for a plethora of uses including build-to-rent.
- Purchase of Kirkstall Brewery in Leeds, subsequent lettings of various buildings to Leeds City Council and the onward sale to a fund.
- Acting for Retail Fund on its purchase of Bensons for Beds and turnaround of its property portfolio.
