About me

As a specialist in education law, my role is to offer school leaders the support they need, so they can focus on what’s important - improving outcomes for the children and young people in their care.

I advise public and private educational institutions on the key issues they face. This includes school conversions and transfers, corporate and charity governance, public procurement and commercial contracts, sanctions (eg exclusions), complaints, data protection, SEND matters, Equality Act matters, school admissions and attendance, safeguarding, health and safety, and regulatory matters.

My expertise is rooted in real world experience. For a decade, I taught in multi-academy trusts and this included a stint in senior leadership. That means I have an intrinsic understanding of the situations and challenges my clients face, and I draw on this to offer pragmatic and efficient solutions that’ll help them reach the right outcome.

I’m always available to be a sounding board for my clients when crucial decisions need to be made, whether this means refining a proposed approach or discovering a new solution.

I also like to get out to the schools we work with and support where I can – whether with careers events or arranging debating events.

My experience

  • Advised on an academisation project that included complex multi-faith arrangements.
  • Advised on the enforcement of obligations linked to the Building Schools for the Future scheme.
  • Represented a governing body at an Independent Review Panel relating to an exclusion involving Equality Act considerations.
  • Spent a year studying German law at the University of Regensburg.
