About me
With over 10 years’ experience, I’m an employment law specialist who supports healthcare organisations, particularly NHS trusts, on the legal aspects of maintaining a productive and effective workforce.
My practice spans employee relations matters, ranging from disciplinaries and grievances to managing absences and redundancies. I also support clients by defending claims relating to discrimination, dismissal and whistleblowing in the Employment Tribunal.
Collaboration is the cornerstone of what I do. When a client comes to me, I act as an extension of their team, taking a proactive, flexible and practical approach. In doing so, I empower my clients to make the best decisions for their circumstances, so they can reach a successful outcome.
Clients see me as supportive, organised and responsive. No matter how difficult the challenge, I am on hand, ready to offer my clients the robust support they need to address it in a way that balances their needs as an organisation with the rights of the employees they are managing.
My experience
- Supported a number of NHS Trusts including The Christie NHS Foundation Trust, Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust, Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust.
- Advised a Trust in a complex whistleblowing claim, including dealing with issues of witness intimidation, multiple appeals to the EAT and applications to the Court of Appeal. The claim was eventually struck out albeit there are ongoing appeals.
- Successfully defended a claim of disability discrimination and harassment (with the exception of one allegation which was upheld). The allegations concerned issues with clinical workers working from home following adjustments to working patterns during the Covid pandemic.
- Advised an NHS Trust on employment status issues following the departure of a locum consultant who subsequently tried to assert employment status.
