About me

I help clients achieve successful outcomes in dry shipping disputes, typically working with shipowners, charterers and insurers.

I’m experienced in advising on matters which arise from charterparties, bills of lading and sale contracts, frequently dealing with claims involving (among other things) cancellations, demurrage, off-hire, spec bunkers and dangerous goods.

My focus is on understanding each client’s objectives and finding practical and innovative ways to achieve them. I draw on my experience of arbitrations under different arbitral rules, along with my experience in High Court proceedings (including defending applications for injunctive relief) to come up with the most effective solution.

My aim is always to give clients the best possible clarity on how legal, strategic and commercial considerations interact, and to work hard to secure the best possible outcome.

My experience

  • Acted for the defendants in successfully resisting an application for an injunction for the re-delivery of two vessels on bareboat charterparties.
  • Acted for the successful shipowner in High Court proceedings arising out of a collision, establishing support for the proposition that an ‘in rem’ judgment in a collision action can be deployed against a shipowner in later in ‘personam’ proceedings.
  • Completed a secondment with a P&I Club in the International Group.
