About me
As a lawyer in our Healthcare and Public Law team, the majority of my work is representing NHS trust clients on coroner’s inquests, and advising on serious incident investigations, patient safety reviews, policies and general healthcare queries.
I also have experience advising on claims linked to inquests, and clinical negligence, employers’ liability and public liability claims. Occasionally, I also represent private healthcare providers.
For inquests work, I aim to be approachable, supportive and reassuring so clients feel supported throughout the entire process. In particular, I prioritise the provision of clear and easy-to-understand advice when discussing risks or issues in respect of a case, and any lessons to be learnt. Having previously completed a full-time secondment at a mental health trust, clients appreciate my insight into what they’re going through. That kind of experience and tangible understanding of how NHS trusts operate is invaluable in my work and the relationships I build with my clients.
Away from work, you’ll often find me at my local parkrun on a Saturday morning – it’s a great way to stay fit and active.
My experience
- Represented various NHS Trusts, and occasionally prison and private healthcare providers, across the North West (and some clients in Yorkshire, London and the South East).
- Advised and represented clients on a variety of complex Coroner’s inquests, including those with juries and where Article 2 is engaged.
- Undertaken secondments and acted as Trust Solicitor at a mental health and an acute Trust. This involved representing the Trust at Coroner’s inquests and advising on clinical negligence, employers’ liability and public liability claims.
- Advised on policies, serious incident investigations and patient safety reviews.
