Hill Dickinson’s London Corporate team has recently advised on the sale of digital scheduling platform, HireHand, to US technology business, Reverence Care.
HireHand is a UK company that specialises in dynamic scheduling, using sophisticated algorithms to match people-powered businesses with the people in their workforce whose individual needs and desired working patterns best fit the flexible shift patterns of the business.
Reverence Care is a US healthtech company that partners with healthcare provider groups to operate clinically effective and financially sustainable models to deliver home-based healthcare. The technology is used to coordinate, source and effectively deploy care practitioners when and as required as part of an integrated care plan, thereby reducing the burden on nurses and other clinical personnel and improving the quality of care.
Hill Dickinson partner James Paton-Philip led the team advising the principal shareholders of HireHand, assisted by a multidisciplinary legal team comprising: Cyprien Berlan (Associate, Corporate), Danielle Higgins (Associate, Corporate), James Odds (Legal Director, Tax) and Will Steed (Senior Associate, Employment).
In-home care is one of those settings where demand continues to grow at a critical rate and we were delighted to advise on the sale to Reverence Care.James Paton-Philip

Scott Erwin, chief executive of HireHand, added:
“We’re looking forward to supporting Reverence founder and CEO, Lee Hudson Teslik, and the Reverence team in revolutionising at home care with our dynamic staffing solution. In particular, we’re excited that our technology - which initially powered a marketplace for flexible work in the hospitality sector and then recently served as a staffing tool to help the NHS with the vaccine rollout - will continue to be part of an important social mission.”
Lee Hudson Teslik said:
“We couldn’t be more thrilled to bring HireHand’s best-in-class scheduling technology to the US healthcare market. Given the parallel staffing crises for nurses and care aides, innovation in scheduling and shift management is sorely needed, particularly as it relates to in-home care.”
New York-based Reverence recently completed a US$9.5 million fundraise to build out a suite of products and services for its in-home care platform and to grow its team.
