Hill Dickinson advises gluten-free market leader Dr. Schär UK on acquisition of GDR Food Technology

Dr. Schär UK, a pioneer in the production of gluten-free food products, has announced its 100% acquisition of Glasgow based allergen-free, fresh bread manufacturer, GDR Food Technology Ltd.

The acquisition provides Dr. Schär with its first UK production plant and entry into the UK fresh bread sector. The launch of fresh bakery products will complement the company’s current assortment and support the manufacturer in achieving its strategic objective of bakery leadership.

Commercial law firm Hill Dickinson advised Dr. Schär on the acquisition, fielding a team led by partner and head of its Liverpool Corporate team, Matt Noon, legal director Elan Iorwerth and associate Ben Correia de Sousa.

Dr. Schär’s acquisition of GDR marks a significant step in the company’s development and coincides with the growth in consumer demand for gluten-free fresh bakery products.
