Commercial law firm Hill Dickinson has advised door manufacturer LPD Doors on a management buyout for an undisclosed sum.

Leeds Plywood & Doors Limited (‘LPD Doors’) was founded in 1981 and supplies internal and external doors for the domestic UK market. The family-owned business employs over 250 people, with second-generation managing director Stuart Gordon now becoming the controlling shareholder.

For more than 40 years, LPD Doors has made, imported and distributed internal and external doors for the domestic UK market. The business also has a furniture division which supplies customers include Magnet, Wickes and Selco.

Advising Stuart Gordon on the MBO were corporate partner Sandip Khroud and senior associate Rebecca Bennett, both of Hill Dickinson’s Leeds office, assisted by Alasdair Mackinnon (partner), James Odds (legal director), Natalie Hong and Alex Quinn (associates); and Hamzah Mahmood (paralegal).

We were delighted to work on this deal with Stuart and the team at LPD. The MBO gives Stuart and his team greater freedom to drive the business forward while embedding important ESG practice and transparency into the operational model. We wish them every success in expanding the business as planned.

Stuart Gordon said he was excited to take ownership of the business and was committed to moving it towards a sustainable future, adding:

“I’m looking forward to continuing to grow the business through new customers and products whilst also continuing to recognise the important role our trading partners play and build on the mutually beneficial long-term relationships we have.”
