Leading commercial law firm Hill Dickinson has recently advised longstanding client Total Swimming Group on the sale of 60 per cent of its business to JD Sports.
The Group, which was established by former Olympic swimmers Steve Parry, Rebecca Adlington and Adrian Turner, was founded to make swimming more accessible and includes Swim!, the first multi-site operator of dedicated children’s learn-to-swim centres in the UK. The Group delivers swimming lessons for 30,000 children every week, as well as building swimming facilities and training hundreds of teachers to deliver lessons.
Matt Noon, corporate partner and head of the Liverpool office at Hill Dickinson, legal director Emma Howard and senior associate Lizzie Jones advised the sellers on the legal aspects of the disposal. Cowgills Corporate Finance and Tax Teams, led by Paul Stringer and James Kennedy, advised the sellers on the financial aspects of the transaction.
It was a great transaction to work on and we are delighted that we were able to help our longstanding clients, Steve, Becky and Ade, on this transformative transaction for the business. Great as ever to work alongside Cowgills and hopefully it is a further part of the Total Swimming Group onward journey and the good it does in terms of encouraging and developing swimming as a sport and hobby in the UK.Matt Noon

Commenting on the deal, Steve Parry said:
“Hill Dickinson has acted for us for a long period of time. Matt, Emma and Lizzie were great to work with and provided a top class service from start to finish, both from a legal and a general commercial perspective. They were a key part of ensuring that the process was as smooth as it was. A delight to work with.”
