Law firm Hill Dickinson has been named as one of the UK’s top 10 employers for its family-friendly and flexible working policies, for the second year in a row.

Working Families is the UK’s largest national charity for working parents and carers and their mission is to remove the barriers that people with caring responsibilities face in the workplace. Hill Dickinson has been awarded a place in its prestigious annual list of Top Employers for Working Families 2025.

Now in its sixteenth year, employers of all sizes across the public, private and third sectors compete annually to gain a coveted place on the charity’s published list. The 2025 list named four UK law firms among its top 10, as well as employers including Grant Thornton, Imperial College London and NELFT NHS Foundation Trust.

Employers were assessed on all aspects of flexible and family-friendly working using Working Families’ Benchmark to build a detailed picture of their flexible and family-friendly policies and practices that specifically support parents and carers.

We are thrilled that Working Families has recognised us, for the second year in a row, as one of the UK’s top ten employers. We’ve always placed our people at the heart of our business, which is why early on we made the decision not just to adopt flexible working but to make it a fundamental part of our culture.

Hill Dickinson Chief People Officer Carolyn Morgan said: “We are thrilled that Working Families has recognised us, for the second year in a row, as one of the UK’s top ten employers. We’ve always placed our people at the heart of our business, which is why early on we made the decision not just to adopt flexible working but to make it a fundamental part of our culture.

“I’m proud to say that at Hill Dickinson, everyone has the flexibility to structure their working day around their other commitments. That could be working remotely on certain days, working a four-day week or leaving early for the school run and picking up again in the evening for an hour or two.”

The Benchmark highlights trends in flexible and family-friendly policies and practices. Key findings included:

  • An increasing number of employers (86%) carry out a job analysis on some or all vacancies to determine the options for flexibility.

  • Almost all Benchmark employers (94%) actively encourage their managers to work in a flexible and family-friendly way.

  • Over half (55%) of Benchmark employers go beyond the statutory minimum by enhancing carers leave, for an average of 5.3 days.

  • 98% offer support for wellbeing.

  • 78% see flexible working as a means of improving operational effectiveness.

Jane van Zyl, CEO of Working Families, said: “Our Top Employers are a powerful reminder that there are employers who are already forging a path for family-friendly and flexible working that others can follow, safe in the knowledge that not only will their business not suffer, but it will thrive. Supporting carers, finding flexibility in job roles, and encouraging change from the top, as our Benchmark employers do, all add up to create inclusive workforces where everyone is empowered to work at their best.”
