Commercial law firm Hill Dickinson has been named as a UK Top 30 Employer for its family-friendly policies by Working Families, the national charity for working parents and carers.

It marks the third time Hill Dickinson has received national recognition for its positive approach to flexible and agile working and the difference that makes, in particular, to the recruitment and retention of employees with young families or carer responsibilities.

Now in its thirteenth year, employers from across the public, private, and third sectors compete annually for a place on the charity’s list of Top Employers for Working Families. Employers are assessed using Working Families’ Benchmark and are scored on four key areas to build a comprehensive picture of their flexible and family-friendly policies and practices that specifically support parents and carers.

To be recognised by Working Families as one of the country’s leading family-friendly employers highlights the effort and rewards of instilling a People First culture and the importance of that in helping create a fair and inclusive workplace built on a foundation of trust and mutual respect.

Hill Dickinson chief executive officer Peter Jackson said: “We are proud to be named as a UK Top 30 Employer today, alongside some of the UK’s leading businesses. We have always keenly appreciated that a crucial factor in our success as a law firm in a crowded market is how well we treat the people we employ and how that in turn translates to the way our clients perceive and do business with us.

“To be recognised by Working Families as one of the country’s leading family-friendly employers highlights the effort and rewards of instilling a People First culture and the importance of that in helping create a fair and inclusive workplace built on a foundation of trust and mutual respect.”

Jane van Zyl, chief executive of Working Families, added: “We are delighted to recognise the outstanding organisations that made our Top Employers for Working Families list this year. These employers excelled in our rigorous benchmarking process, proving they are leading the way in building family-friendly workplaces in the UK. The variety of sizes and sectors represented on this year’s list demonstrates that—with a commitment to best practice and an appetite to innovate—it is possible for any organisation to support their people through embedding flexible and family-friendly practices.”
