We’re proud to be supporting the development of a new Children’s Cancer Centre at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH), helping to bring the world-leading facility to life through by supporting its Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity’s (GOSH Charity) ‘Build it. Beat it.’ appeal.
Currently under construction, the new Children’s Cancer Centre will be one of the most advanced paediatric cancer facilities in the world, helping to transform children’s cancer care by bringing together specialist treatments, pioneering research and holistic support under one roof.
To support its delivery and as part of its long-term relationship with the hospital, the Hill Dickinson Foundation – our grant-giving foundation – has provided £25,000 in funding to GOSH Charity, to help support its biggest ever fundraising appeal, ‘Build it. Beat it.’
The funding will support the development of new day care bays in the Children’s Cancer Centre, which will form part of the new cancer day care unit. The day care bays will provide calm, dedicated spaces for young patients to undergo treatment like chemotherapy, which can last several hours.
The day care bays will be a vital part of the new facility. They will be open and sociable, helping young people connect with one another. Each space allows staff to deliver care in a calm and reassuring setting.
The funding forms part of our newly refreshed charitable strategy, which centres on creating brighter futures for children and young people. As the official naming rights partner of Hill Dickinson Stadium, the firm is also set to partner with Everton in the Community to support a new project focused on reducing child obesity.
Specialist care for young people
Each year, around 450 children are referred to GOSH for cancer treatment and around 500 children under the age of 14 in the UK are treated for cancer at the hospital, either as a day case or inpatient.
