Details

Esther is a partner and head of the firm’s Leeds office. She leads the Health Commercial and Regulatory team in Leeds, advising a broad range of health and care clients including Integrated Care Boards, NHS trusts and foundation trusts, national NHS bodies, local authorities and independent providers, on a broad range of complex commercial, contractual and governance issues.

Esther works in partnership with her clients and is currently working at the forefront of developments related to the Health & Care Act 2022 to facilitate integration of health and care. This includes work with many systems, at both ICS and Place level and with provider collaboratives, to help embed new ways of working, working closely with our Hill Dickinson consultant specialists in collaborative leadership and organisational development.   

Esther helped her clients deliver a number of urgent, high profile projects relating to the covid-19 pandemic, including extensive work coordinating the wider teams’ input into these.

Esther has particular expertise in developing novel contractual arrangements and collaborations. She advises on shared services arrangements, alliance contracting and Section 75 agreements. She has also led on pathology and other service collaborations and the development of complex contractual arrangements for several nationally commissioned services.

Esther is an equality lead for our Leeds office, acting as a point of contact for ideas and initiatives that help highlight our commitment to diversity and inclusion or to discuss issues related to any dimension of diversity or inclusion.

    • Working with senior health and care leaders at ICS and Place level, and with provider collaboratives, to develop governance and contracting models for integration. Examples include Collaborative Newcastle, St Helens Cares, Gateshead Cares and Cheshire & Merseyside Health & Care Partnership
    • Leading on a wide range of high profile projects relating to the Covid-19 pandemic including two Nightingale Hospitals, the Integrated Covid Hub North East and other Lighthouse Laboratory arrangements
