George Zambartas

George heads up the Limassol office and specialises in corporate law, Cypriot litigation and shipping finance.

George is one of a few lawyers in Cyprus to hold both a Cyprus Bar license and a Solicitor’s Practicing Certificate issued by the Solicitors Regulation Authority and has over 30 years’ experience in dealing with commercial, corporate and maritime matters.

George has advised leading shipping companies seeking ship finance and provided legal opinions on matters of Cyprus Law to International Banks on high value transactions and drafted security documents compliant with Cyprus Law to facilitate the transaction.

Additionally he has considerable experience in advising and preparing the contractual documentation required to effect major cross border acquisitions and joint ventures/shareholders agreements for both shipping and corporate clients as well as dealing with the termination of such agreements.

George obtained his BA (Hons) from Queen Mary College, University of London and his LPC from the Newcastle University.

Appointed as the Cypriot Counsel for a leading European Finance Bank in connection with their acquisition of a 5,38% (10,666,666 ordinary shares) equity stake in a Cypriot bank through an investment of just under €20,000,000
Instructions from a leading financial institution for the review of the documentation in connection with a restructuring transaction. Providing legal support in relation to Cypriot charges and a wide scope of security documentation. The transaction (in a form of secured term loan facility) amounted to €66,513,087
Instructions from a Global Ship Management Company to provide legal support for the drafting of a Joint Venture Agreement with an Italian shipping company to provide technical management services
