James Lock

James is an associate in the Commercial, TMT and Intellectual Property Team at our Manchester office.

Prior to joining Hill Dickinson, James completed his training contract at a regional firm in Lancashire completing his seats in Employment, Corporate, Commercial and Real-Estate. On qualification, James worked in-house as part of the commercial team of the Co-op Group in Manchester.

James undertakes a broad range of non-contentious work in the following areas: commercial and business (both B2B and B2C), intellectual property (including IP licensing and assignments, sponsorship agreements and brand exploitation) and information technology.

James graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2015 with a 2:1 in Law and completed his Legal Practice Course and LLM in Professional Legal Practice at University of Law, achieving a distinction.

Experience
Drafting, reviewing, negotiating and advising on:
supply and purchase of goods and services agreements;
agency agreements and distributions agreements;
IP assignments and licences including patent and know-how licences;
Software development and maintenance contracts along with SaaS agreements; and
influencer agreements.
Drafting privacy and cookies policies along with online terms and conditions.
Assisting with corporate due diligence and drafting transitional services agreements.
