Joanne joined the firm in 2024 after spending a number of years as a partner at a large northwest based firm. She has over 15 years’ experience as a family law solicitor and has become one of the leaders in her field.

Joanne has a wide array of experience in all areas of family law. She has become a ‘go to’ lawyer for anyone seeking wealth protection via a pre-nuptial or post-nuptial agreement and she regularly represents clients in divorces where such agreements are a factor.

Joanne is a specialist in dealing with complex divorce cases which involve family trusts, businesses, foreign assets, and other international dimensions. The nature of Joanne’s work is confidential, but she acts for a variety of business owners, entrepreneurs, sportspeople, professionals, and wealthy families. She also has considerable expertise representing the more financially vulnerable spouse, where there is a financial power imbalance, and she can advise on the option of injunctive relief where there is a concern that assets may be purposely placed out of reach in a divorce.

Joanne can assist with cohabitation agreements (also known as living together agreements) or separation agreements for unmarried couples. She also represents clients in cases concerning financial provision for children or arrangements for children.

In addition to court-based litigation, Joanne is a collaborative law practitioner which enables her to help individuals to negotiate an out of court financial settlement in a series of round-table meetings led by their solicitors.

Joanne regularly lectures other professionals in family law related issues. She is Chair of the Manchester regional committee of Resolution (an organisation for family law practitioners) and is a former member of their national committee. She can also provide her services as a neutral ‘judge’ in private FDR hearings.

Joanne qualified as a solicitor in 2008 after obtaining a law degree at Sheffield University and undertaking her postgraduate studies at Nottingham Law School.

    • Assisting a client in making arguments before the court regarding the extent to which his assets were non matrimonial and therefore should be excluded from division in divorce.
    • Acting as a collaborative law practitioner helping a couple to reach a negotiated settlement after round table meetings, thereby avoiding contested court based litigation.
