Details

Joshua specialises in commercial dispute resolution in shipping, shipbuilding and offshore engineering matters in both English Court proceedings and international arbitration. 

Joshua’s experience ranges from charterparty and bills of lading disputes through to shipbuilding and offshore marine engineering contracts. He has a particular interest in matters concerning both complex legal issues as well as highly technical scientific or engineering questions of fact. He has experience of both English Court proceedings and international commercial arbitration under the auspices of the LMAA and ICC, and has been involved in commercial mediation. 

In addition, Joshua’s experience extends to disputes surrounding ship sale contracts and general sale of goods matters. 

Joshua read law at King’s College London, and went on to complete a master’s degree specialising in international commercial law. His dissertation focused on the nature of a Charterers’ obligation to nominate a safe port. Thereafter, Joshua completed the LPC at the BPP with Distinction.

  • Experience

    • Acting in numerous arbitrations concerning time and voyage charters.
    • Advising owners/disponent owners/charterers/CIF buyers in relation to war risks and transiting the Red Sea. 
    • Advising ship yard concerning main engine defects caused by sub-contractor. 
    • Acting in high value arbitrations concerning the transportation of LNG. 
    • Advising sellers under FOB contract concerning issues arising from various documentary requirements.
